About SubCover
SubCover tracks subcontractor certificates of insurance and chases the renewals, so a small residential contractor does not have to keep fifteen expiration dates in their head and spend their evenings emailing people about paperwork.
Why it exists
Certificate tracking is a solved problem for large commercial builders. They have compliance platforms, and often somebody whose job includes running them. A general contractor with eight subcontractors has exactly the same exposure — an uninsured sub is an uninsured sub regardless of company size — and no realistic way to buy that. Enterprise tools start with a sales call, and residential job-management suites bury COI tracking as a checkbox inside a $300-a-month tier.
So most small contractors use a spreadsheet, which records dates accurately and does nothing at all about the part that actually takes time: getting a busy electrician to send a new certificate.
That is the only problem SubCover is trying to solve well. Not compliance review, not bid management, not job costing. Watch the dates, chase the subs, keep the documents.
Who builds it
SubCover is built and run by one person — Jose Pollman. That has an obvious downside — no support team, no enterprise procurement process — and one real upside: there is no growth target pushing it toward becoming something you did not ask for. If you email, you reach the person who wrote the code.

Bug reports, feature requests, and "this wording is wrong" corrections are all welcome. If a chase email did not arrive, that is the highest-priority category of problem here — say so and it gets looked at the same day.
What it is not
SubCover is a record-keeping tool. It is not an insurance product, not an insurance broker, and nothing in it is insurance or legal advice. It does not verify that a certificate is genuine, that the policy behind it is in force, or that the coverage shown is adequate for your contract. Those are questions for your agent. What SubCover does is make sure you notice the date and get a current document on file.
